Květná 1794 Among the Finalists of Czech Grand Design 2025

The glassworks Květná 1794 has been named a finalist in the prestigious Czech Grand Design 2025 awards in the category Manufacturer of the Year. The expert jury of the Academy of Design of the Czech Republic recognized the glassworks’ long-term collaborations with leading contemporary designers, as well as its ability to combine traditional glassmaking craftsmanship with a strong authorial approach.

Květná advanced to the finals with two collections. The Drop coffee glass collection, created in collaboration with designers Klára Janypková and Tomáš Kučera, reflects a sensitive approach to detail and functional form.

The Haoto collection of drinking glasses and vases, designed by world-renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, brings an inspiring dialogue between glass, light, and nature. The diversity of these approaches highlights the glassworks’ openness to contemporary design while maintaining the highest standards of hand production.

This year’s finalists were announced during the opening of an exhibition by last year’s Grand Designer, Jan Černý, at the Moravian Gallery in Brno. The winners of Czech Grand Design 2025 will be officially announced on March 11, 2026, at the Estates Theatre in Prague. The ceremony will be broadcast live on ČT art.

Reaching the finals represents another important milestone for Květná 1794, confirming that a traditional manufacturing brand can be a natural and relevant part of today’s design scene — not only within the Czech Republic, but also internationally.
