At the beginning of November, former employees accepted an invitation from the new owners of the glassworks. Nearly two hundred seniors from various professions—glassmakers, glass painters, technicians, maintenance workers, ball makers, glassblowers, and others—gathered to revisit their former workplace, greet their successors, and tour the newly opened museum.
During the meeting, representatives of the glassworks planted a chestnut tree, symbolizing new beginnings and the connection between tradition and innovation. "It’s almost a year since I first visited the glassworks. Right from the start, there were several moments that left a lasting impression on me. I was taken by the surrounding nature, captivated by the glassmaking craft, and especially inspired by the local people," recalled Josef Anovčín, one of the owners and the new executive director of the glassworks, who thanked those present for their many years of work.
In his speech, he also mentioned the 230th anniversary of the glassworks’ founding and reflected on the generations of families who had worked there over the years. "We want to build on the tradition. Although we know we face many tasks and decisions ahead, our goal is for the glassworks to thrive and for us to manage any challenges that arise," revealed Josef Anovčín.
During the ceremonial speech, the co-owner of the glassworks, Dušan Svoboda, also greeted those present. "If you have an idea that could help us in operating the glassworks, we are ready to listen. If you have old products at home, don't throw them away. Bring them to us; we have the newly reopened Zahnová Villa with a museum exhibition, which we want to continue expanding," Dušan Svoboda encouraged the attendees.
The former employees were also delighted by the reunion. On their behalf, former glass painter Mrs. Dědíková thanked the new management for the invitation and wished them much success. Together, the attendees toasted to future successes.
