A tradition since 1794

We rely on quality lead-free enamel, flawless workmanship, modern and traditional designs. We use modern technologies especially where we perceive their contribution to achieving the highest possible quality, but at the same time we preserve the craft tradition and the uniqueness of handwork. Our goal is not to churn out as many products as possible. That is why we focus on smaller, unique design collections, the shape of which we collaborate with leading Czech and foreign designers.

OUR VISION

With its focus and originality, KVETNA 1794 has no competition both in the Czech Republic and abroad. Each piece is a work of art by our master glassblowers, and the difference from machine-made glass is already visible at first glance. Although our glasses appear fragile thanks to their incredible lightness and thinness, it is the opposite - thanks to the formula of our soda-potassium glass, which has been developed over years without admixtures of lead and other heavy metals, our crystal glass is not only elegant, but also unexpectedly strong and flexible.

Our mission is therefore to build awareness of the tradition of hand-made glass in the Czech Republic, as this awareness was noticeably disrupted by the nationalization of the glass industry in the 20th century and still bears its consequences today.

REALLY HANDMADE

Is there a difference between hand blown and hand cut glass? Yes! Many products can be presented as hand-ground or hand-decorated. But this does not mean that this glass passed through the hands of a master glassmaker. It only means that it was made by machine and then someone sanded or decorated it. So it has nothing to do with the tradition of hand-made production and the preservation of craftsmanship. The difference in the quality of such a product is visible at first glance - machine-made glasses usually do not reach such a thinness as those made by hand.

But the main thing is that the machine cannot make a glass from a single piece of glass, so the stem must be glued to the goblet, which results in a significant loss of strength. Machine glass is therefore more fragile and generally more prone to breakage. On the other hand, the drawn stem from the hands of a master glassmaker guarantees the high resistance of the glass against damage even while maintaining the extreme thinness of the glass. The glass factory KVĚTNÁ 1794 proudly adheres to the tradition of hand-made production, therefore all our products are made by hand.
